In addition to our work on trace isotope detection, we are drawing on our understanding of quantum technology and laser techniques to develop a carbon dating analysis service with the potential to revolutionise this particular field. With the analysis service we are developing, results will be provided in days rather than weeks or months. Our plan is to focus initially on archaeological artefacts and then expand our services into related disciplines within a short timescale.

We are building and evaluating a novel technology based on the real-time detection of exhaled chemical elements—biomarkers—and their concentrations. However, existing technologies still fail to deliver a clinical application of superior value to the healthcare system. Laser spectroscopy can provide real-time detection of a single or several volatile compounds, with detection limits ranging from the part-per-million to less than part-per-billion. Seconds is the measurement time needed to detect most molecules of medical interest via laser-based spectroscopic methods in near- and mid-infrared regions.

From 2015, there is a 240 kV single stage accelerator mass spectrometer (SSAMS, National Electrostatics Corporation, USA) installed and a modern radiocarbon dating sample preparation laboratory with elemental analyzer (EA, Vario Isotope Select, Elementar, GmbH) connected to the Automated Graphitization Equipment AGE 3 (Ionplus AG). Today it is the most advanced and worldwide recognized technique for archaeological and geological samples age determination, and also for identification of biobased carbon content in the products. We run 240 kV Single Stage AMS manufactured by National Electrostatics Corporation (USA), and Low Energy AMS manufactured by Ionplus AG (Switzerland).

AtomTrace has been founded as a start-up from the Central European Institute of Technology in 2014 and since strongly cooperates with this newly born centre of the fields of life sciences, advanced materials and technologies. We are publishing our work concerning the LIBS (Double Pulse LIBS, LIBS+LIFS, Liquid LIBS, Stand-Off LIBS) and its applications in scientific journals (Journal of Analytical Atomic Spectroscopy, Spectrochimica Acta Part B: Atomic Spectroscopy, Sensors, Optical Engineering) and periodically presenting it on international conferences. The Sci-Trace product series allows you to start only with the functionality you need and add functionality as your research needs change up to high performance comprehensive LIBS setup. After 18 years of research and development we can deliver LIBS solution you need. DDG is the core components of every LIBS system for synchronizing the individual components. The main goal is the commercialisation of promising technologies that arise from research and development particularly in the field of material analysis by the LIBS technique. So besides the LIBS researchers, the AtomTrace team includes also specialists on machine design, electronics and software development.
